Ademola Lookman scored two first-half goals as Atalanta defeated Napoli 3-0 in their Serie A encounter.
The 27-year-old conjured an electrifying performance in a one-sided match at the Stadio Diego Maradona on Sunday.
Lookman scored his first goal in the ninth minute. The ball bounced aimlessly around the Napoli goal area, and the winger meandered his way to the far post and volleyed a shot beyond Alex Meret.
The second goal was a screamer from over 20 yards out. Lookman received the ball and drove a bit into the centre of the pitch before unleashing a powerful shot into the bottom left corner of Meret’s goal.
Atalanta rounded up the game in the stoppage time, and Mateo Retegui hammered the final nail in the coffin.
Lookman has scored seven goals and assisted five as Atalanta halted Napoli’s 10 games unbeaten run. The Bergamo club moved up to second in Serie A, just three points behind Napoli.
Lookman continues to enjoy an impressive week after being named the 14th best male footballer in the world at the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards.
