Two imams have been found guilty by the Kano State mobile court on COVID-19 lockdown for holding congregational prayers in violation of the lockdown order, and have been ordered to sweep a district head’s residence for a week.
This was disclosed by the Kano State Chief Registrar, Baba Jibo Ibrahim, in a statement issued in Kano yesterday. According to him, the incident occurred in Minjibir Local Government Area of the state.
The court ruled that they should sweep the residence of the district head of Minjibir for one week in addition to a N10,000 fine. He added that during the period of the community service, local officials would be present at the district head’s residence to ensure compliance.
