A Community leader, Dr. Sheik. Yusuff Oluwafunminiyi Olorunfemi (Kunfayakun), has pushed for the adoption of traditional method of oath taking in governance to curb corruption in the country.
Speaking at a lecture on Monday, Sheik Kunfayakun contended: “It would be difficult for public office holders to siphon public money or abuse their offices if they were swore in with their
deity.
Sheik Kunfayakun who is also the Baale of Ajoda Community in Osogbo, Osun State, added that people, especially public office holders, no longer
fear Bible and Qur’an that are currently being used because they know that God is merciful, and does not kill instantly.
According to him, “Our government must begin to adopt our culture in government if we must succeed. Even in the fight against corruption, our (traditional) practices of oath taking should be
applied,” he called.
The Community leader who enjoined people of the Country to always seek God intervention in all their undertaking said, prayer is the only antidote towards the problem facing the nation.
Sheik Kunfayakun however used the medium to congratulates the Araba Awo of Osogbo land, Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon on his 70th birthday ceremony, adding that he has contributed a lot in uplifting traditional activities.
