This was announced by Israel’s military spokesperson on Tuesday, revealing that Issa was killed in an Israeli strike.
“We have checked all the intelligence,” Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a televised statement. “Marwan Issa was eliminated in the strike we carried out around two weeks ago,” he said.
Issa was on Israel’s most-wanted list, along with Mohammed Deif, the commander of Hamas’ military arm, the Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, and Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’ leader in Gaza, who are suspected of masterminding the group’s October 7 attack on southern Israel, which sparked the Gaza war.
It was also reported how Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, earlier rejected a proposal for a Gaza war truce by Hamas.
It had been reported how Hamas militants wrote a new plan for a four-and-a-half-month ceasefire in Gaza, during which all hostages were expected to be released.
