The Association for Orphans and Vulnerable Children NGOs In Nigeria (AONN) seeks support for Girl Child in fulfilling their dreams.
The National Coordinator AONN group, Dr. Grace Dafiel while speaking with Journalist today 11th October at the programme which was tagged ” Nigerian Girl Child” noted that the program is organized to commemorate with girl child on this special day.
Dafiel maintained that a girl child is born with wing and can fly if she is not cut short and allowed to fulfil her dreams,
She also pleaded to the federal government of Nigeria, to do the needful and ensure the release of Leah Sharibu and other Chibok girls in Detention.
Executive Director of Nigeria Network of NGOs Mr. Oyebisi Oluseyi, while speaking about the importance of girl child in the society, preaches for the support of gender equality.
He added that a girl child needs to be brewed to be self – dependent and not on marriage purposes alone.
The Deputy National Coordinator (North Central) of the group, Mrs. Christy Abayomi advised that the girl child need to be unscripted and unstoppable.
She further explained that a girl need to be educated and empowered so her dreams and vision can be fulfilled.
Every 11th day of October has been set aside by the United Nation Organization to celebrate the International Day Of The Girl across the globe.
The day exists to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face all over the world.
It is also meant to promote the empowerment of young girls everywhere, while also advocating for the attainment of their basic human rights, like education and bodily autonomy. She concluded
