A village head in Ibadan has been abducted alongside his wife by unknown gunmen.
According to an eye witness who pleaded anonymity, the gunmen stormed Araromi Village in Bakatari area of Ibadan and took away the village head, Chief Tafa Apanpa who is the Baale of Araromi Village as well as his wife on Tuesday night June 22, 2021 despite the heavy downpour.
Bakatari, which is one of the towns in Ido local government area of Ibadan is located along the Ibadan-Abeokuta Road, a border town between Oyo and Ogun states.
Confirming the incident to journalists, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Suprintendent of Police, Adewale Osifeso assured that all hands are on deck to secure the release of the victims.
“The incident happened very late on Tuesday, 22nd of June, 2021at Araromi village.
“Efforts are in top gear to rescue both victims and as well as apprehend the abductors, please.” Osifeso said.
