Akinyibi Ahmed, the Nigerian singer better known as Bella Shmurda, says he is not doing music to “impress or compete” with anyone.
In a Twitter post on Wednesday, the music star said he is “hustling” to solve his family’s struggles.
He also expressed excitement at being able to “change the story and win the battles my parents never won”.
“Came from humble families, old houses and small towns with sad stories. I’m legit not hustling to impress or compete with anyone out here. I changed the storyline already, won the battles my parents never won. Lots of love to everyone, more appreciation to my family,” he said.
