The Igbo community in Ibadan has come together to pledge their undiluted support for the governor of Oyo state Engr Seyi Makinde for second term.
This was made known during the Igbo Community Town Hall meeting consisting of members from all the local government areas in the state.
While addressing members at the House of Chiefs, Agodi, Secretariat in Ibadan, the Special Assistant to the governor on Community Relation (Igbo Community) Barr. Ike Kingsley called on members to give their continued support for the present administration as he has given the Igbo tribe a voice by electing them as members of his cabinet.
“As you can all witness, the present administration under Engr. Seyi Makinde has graciously given Ndi – Igbo a stake in his administration by appointing me and my brother Hon. Tallest Innocent as Special Assistant on OYSIEC as part of his cabinet.
Recently, on 29th May 2021, the administration of Engr. Seyi Makinde marked two years in Office. The event that has followed ever since then is visible to all residents of Oyo State and beyond.”
According to Ike, the government has changed the narratives as witnessed in the litany of completed projects being commissioned around the State. Dividend of democratic governance has been effectively extended to the grassroots through the equitable mechanism, set in place by the Governor to achieve this.
He further maintained that the Ndi – Igbo are known for being industrious and hard-working and in all parts of Oyo State, and they engage in various businesses and other ventures.
“I will like boldly say that the present administration has created an enabling environment for our businesses to thrive with greater speed.
Despite challenges facing the country in various forms, Oyo State has remained largely peaceful and accommodating to Ndi – Igbo, unlike the horror days of the past, our people are able to do their businesses in a friendlier atmosphere, devoid rancor and threats.
Governor Makinde has promised to always give a listening ear to the needs of Ndigbo and will be duly addressed. We must show him that we are strongly behind his government and will support his vision in every way we can, if we do not, we may not enjoy the deliverables which the Governor has promised.” He said
