According to Daily Nigerian, Hanan Buhari was said to have been invited to the Durbar by Rilwanu Adamu, emir of Bauchi, on Thursday.
Hanan, a first-class graduate of photography from a university in the United Kingdom, was accorded a warm reception by the state’s officials who were waiting for her at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi.
As a professional photographer, Hanan was expected to document the event and other tourist attractions in the state.
But the development did not go down well with some Nigerians on Twitter who said the president’s daughter is not entitled to use the presidential jet, especially for a private engagement.
Demola Olarewaju, a Twitter user, commented that Hanan’s use of the presidential plane amounts to abuse of power.
“Hanan Buhari’s use of a Presidential aircraft for a private engagement is a public example of how Buhari has pocketed all Govt institutions for the exclusive use of he and his families,” he said.
“Buhari’s own use of that same aircraft for private engagements is a fuzzy area but can be couches under his being President.
“His daughter using it is a gross abuse of office, an insult to the poor masses of Nigeria and a waste of taxpayer funds, oil revenue and borrowed monies.”
Olusegun Victor, another commenter, said the development could be termed an act of corruption.
“It’s a sad thing that and highest level of corruption that Hanan Buhari should turn presidency jet to Uber,” Victor said.
“This jet that poor masses tax is used to fuel. This issue need to be looked into, it’s corruption on the side of @MBuhari.”
Usman Austin said: “So Hanan Buhari is now cruising with our Presidential flight. Though we were told in 2016 that there was a plan to sell them inorder to reduce cost, but now his daughter, despite the fact that he’s regarded as the “Man of Integrity” is using one of them.”
