Police has arrested three suspected hired thugs for allegedly beating a 72 year old man, Pa. Ilesanmi Adedayo to a state of coma.
Pa Adedayo, who is now receiving medical attention at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, Osun State was hit with an object by these thugs while trying to settle a land dispute among some members in his family circle at Iron, Akure, Ondo state.
Also, a middle aged man who said to have engaged the services of the thugs are now on the trail of the policemen while the arrested suspected thugs have already been detained by the Police.
While settling the feud, it was gathered that a desperate middle aged man in the family circle, simply identified as Akin who insisted that nobody should tamper with the property as it belongs to his father hired the services of the thugs who manhandled the old man.
However, since the old man has been under admission in the hospital since about 8 days ago, his two eyes are yet to be opened while he still remains unconscious despite the fact that he is breathing.
Speaking with newsmen at OAUTHC, Ile-Ife on the development, one of the old man children, Mrs. Modupe Akinlawon expressed dissatisfaction to the incident she described as inhuman, callous and wicked and commended the law enforcement agents in seeing that the perpetrators of the seeds are brought to book since the ugly drama happened.
Akinlawon who stated that the thugs hit her father’s head with wood, revealed that as a result of the object, blood has splashed into his father’s brain which caused him to be unconscious and unable to open his two eyes.
She however maintained that, since her father arrived the hospital, he has been In a state of coma adding that, he has undergone an operation to revive his consciousness.
The woman who stressed that before her father was being brought to OAUTHC, Ile-Ife, she has been attended to at trauma medical Centre, Ondo, prayed to God to revive his father’s health.
One of the medical experts who preferred anonymity informed that, when such an incident happened like that, the surviving chances of the victim is 50/50 because, the major surgical operation that would be performed on such a person is called borehole and that, it is not guaranteed; that the victim would be automatically healed.
