The Governor of Oyo State Engineer Seyi Makinde inaugurates fourteen Commissioners as part of his cabinet who will work alongside with his governmnet.
Governor Makinde while addressing the newly appointed Commissioners today 15th August in his office at the Exco Chamber during the inaugural event Said ” I am looking go to seeing you come up with innovative and creative Polk that will accelerate Oyo State journey to greatness.”
“I imagine you sponsoring some bills from your departments that the executive can escalate. But most importantly I desire to see you make for used, intentional and needful decisions that show that you put Oyo State and our people above personal interests.
The Governor noted further that ” I have had a one on one talk with all the fourteen of you, your various endeavours hitherto have prepared you for this moment. You had successful and fulfilling individual careers in the private and public sectors.
” I have among you representative from academics, former legislators, professionals, and business people. But you choose to answer this call to serve, with the formidable track records and CVs you all posses I am happy that you are not working against me.
“And so we are gathered here today to inaugurate the Oyo State executives council as stipulated in the section 192 and 193 of the Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, their mandate is to direct, supervise, and manage the portfolios, it is indeed an honor to welcome you all to be part of our administration and just as the CEO cannot do functions without trusted and tested board of advisors that will key into his visions.
“Oyo State cannot make desired progress unless we work together. I have presented my visions to the people of Oyo State and as you take this appointment, I believe you are keying into this vision.” Gov. Makinde said.
In his reaction, the newly appointed Commissioner for Communication and mass mobilisation, Hon. Wasiu Olatunbosun said “on behehahalf of the rest Commissioners we thank the executive Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity and the privilege to serve our dear State, we pledge our absolute loyalty, support and undiluted, sincerity, and commitment to this government to succeed.
“All of us were captain’s of industries in our various field and this is the first time the governor will be working with this kind of calibre of people and we are ready to prove to the world that we will not disappoint the governor.”
Hon. Wasiu Olatunbosun however gave the names of the Commissioner and their portfolios as follows, Rt. Hon. Olatunji Kehinhde Ayoola is for ministry of Environment, Barr. Adeniyi Farinto Ministry of Budget and Planning, Hon .Mrs. Funmilayo Orisadeyi Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy matter, Hon. Muiwa Ojekunle ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Basir Abiodun Bello Ministry of Health, Chief Bayo Lawal ministry of Special Duties, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo Ministry of Justice, Prof. Daud Kehinhde Ogundoyin ministry of Education, Barr. Olasunkanmi Aremu Olaleye Ministry’s of Establishment, Mr. Adeniyi Adebisi ministry of commerce, Mr. Riami Abiodun Raimi ministry of Lands, and Barr. Temilolu Nurudeen Asamu as the Commissioner for Energy.
However, Hon Wasiu Olatunbosun urged journalists in the State to team work with his ministry to bridge the gaps between the people and the government.
