……. sets To Return #28Million Education Levies Back To Parents.
The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has ordered that the twenty six thousand hectares of prime forest resources illegally acquired by some individuals of the immediate past government of Oyo state be revoked.
The Governor stated this through the State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Kehinde Ayoola, today 10th September while briefing journalists at the end of the 2nd executive council meeting.
Ayoola said “the decision became necessary to prevent ecological disasters already predicted by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA). Saying, it is ungodly for anyone to reduce the size of the forest and acquire it for his or her personal use.”
“The twenty-six thousand hectares of land in the hands of some individuals almost caused the state to lose a whooping sum of grant from the United Nations to expand its forestry reserve. And to protect the interest of Oyo residents, it is paramount to put a stop to some individuals who are interested in looting the common patrimony of the state.”
Also speaking, the state commissioner for Education, Professor Daudu Sangodoyin, revealed that plans are already ongoing to return a sum of #28million levies said to have been collected from indigent pupils and students in the state by the immediate past administration back to their parents and guardians.
“Our working plan is to go out from tomorrow to have accessment of facilities, preparations that are in place for the resumption of our students.”
“We are prepared to return 28million naira back to parents and guardian that have paid for funds in secondary school which is ongoing. Very soon, parents will have their money back.” He said
He added that, the distribution of the customized exercise books prepared for the pupils and students in government own citadel of learning would commence on Monday, September 16, 2019.
