Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has restated his administration’s commitment to high level productivity and service delivery through an efficient civil and public service.
The governor said this at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Head of Service for the state, Hannah Ogunesan, at the executive council chamber of the Governor’s Office on Monday.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ogunesan is succeeding Soji Eniade who retired from the civil service after 35 years of service.
Ajimobi said that his administration at inception met an unprecedented level of rot in the civil service which necessitated a reform agenda.
He said: “Our administration has been more committed to the transformation of the civil and public service to an efficient engine room of governance.
“We have evolved several reform policies, ranging from bank verification to performance evaluation and it has greatly transformed the service.
“It behoves on every civil and public servant to reciprocate the gesture.”
He said his administration would not renege on its determination to reward excellent performance and efficiency.
The governor stated that Ogunesan was picked through a painstaking effort which considered uncommon but critical qualities such as commitment, diligence and loyalty.
Ajimobi said: “A leader must be able to envision, visualise and actualise great dreams. I urge our new HOS to brace up for the enormous task ahead.
“I am appealing to all civil and public servants in the state to cooperate with the new HOS.”
Reports states that Ogunesan who hails from Ago-Amodu in Oke-Ogun area of the state, joined the service in 1989.
