A frontline traditional ruler, Oba Adeyemi Adeniran, Atipa Owaji, the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, has lauded the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on his ingenuity at settling the crisis between farmers and herdsmen, who are consistently destroying farm crops in the state.
The monarch gave the charge while playing host to the Committee on Peaceful Co-existence between Fulani/ Bororo and Crop Farmers in his palace during the week.
Oba Adeniran appreciated Ogbeni Aregbesola for setting up the Committee on Peaceful Co-existence between the Fulani/ Bororo and Crop farmers in the state, even when the crisis was not envisaged.
He explained that, the crisis resolution method adopted by the Committee through mutual understanding by farmers and Fulani/ Bororo is the best.
He however, charged the state government to proffer a lasting solution to the menace of herdsmen as towns in the state boundaries suffer the setback.
He also suggested that, the state Government should strengthen the boundary check points and organise enlightenment programmes to the farmers through Town Hall meetings.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Special Duties, who doubles as the Chairman, Committee on Peaceful Co-existence between Fulani/ Bororo and Crop Farmers in the state, Hon. Oguntola Mudasiru Toogun, had thanked the traditional ruler for his cooperation and support to the committee and the state at large.
He reiterated the commitment of the state government in ensuring that security of life and property of the citizens in the state is guaranteed.
He therefore charged the residents in the state to cooperate with the committee by giving necessary information anytime they notice any strange activities by the herdsmen.
