In registration of her of her priority quality education, an Ileogbo based socio-political group under the aegis of Akin Adebisi Foundation (AAF) has awarded scholarship to meritoriously selected secondary schools students of Iwo Federal Constituency of Osun state. The scholarship was said to promote academic excellence by appreciating better brains among students of the beneficial schools.
An Ileogbo born manager/founder of the foundation, Mr.Akin Adebisi disclosed motivation as one of the acute prices for promoting distinctive academic performance among Nigeria students, beseeching government and private individual at all levels to launch scholarship scheme to outstanding pupils.
Addressing journalists immediately after the presentation of prizes held at Iwo City Hall, Osun State, Mr. Adebisi lamented mental wasteful among the pupils as alarming which has adversely led to undiscovered assets among students who subsequently turn liabilities to our dear land. According to him, such liabilities are nuisance and instrument of political unrest in the society. However, there is urgent need to invest in our future through those students.
It could be recalled that the foundation has earlier launched her extra mural lesson months ago for students syndicated to 10 centres within the three Local Governments of Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa area of Osun State. Disclosing the impartiality of the umpire, Adebisi pointed examination was conducted to select 30 outstanding students awarded with motivating cash, textbooks and other learning aids.
Mr. Adebisi implored the beneficiaries to utilize the cash judiciously for academic purpose to improve their performance rather than spending the money on frivolities. He said the best achievement of an aspiring student for greatness is knowledge seeking and as such, I urged all the beneficiaries to expend the gift on books, school forms, coaching classes and other learning aids.
Rebuking the ill attitude of students to learning, he condemned cultism among students as the shortest route to academic failure and prayed them to dissociate from any secret club with the bottom line of jeopardizing their future. Quoting him “The best you can do is total commitment to academic excellence, with prayer, you are already at the round table of success”.
“The award is given to motivate for better academic performance and competition among the students. Aside that, it was also initiated to discovered best brains and address mental wastefulness among the pupils. The time is now to give back to our society while I appeal to the beneficiaries to make us proud by utilizing the award judiciously. Read your books because readers are leaders. We would have buy ordinary textbooks but we discovered your academic preference is not uniform, hence, we thought of complementing it with cash to address your individual academic needs” said Akin Adebisi.
Also speaking, the coordinator of the foundation, Mr. Akande Abdullahi pointed the foundation is targeted at improving the society in all ramifications with preference for quality and qualitative education. He charged the beneficiaries to be good ambassador of our dear constituency, saying the future of our area belong to us all.
