The ceremony was attended by the governors of Sokoto and Zamfara, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Bello Matawalle, and a prominent leader of the sect, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, among other dignitaries.
Adherents of Tijjianiyya who were in their thousands offered special prayers for peace, unity and stability in the country.
The prayer session was led by Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi and leader of Majma’u Ahbab Rasul Li Shehu Nyass, Alhaji Dahiru Abubakar.
The two scholars prayed the Almighty Allah to bring to end banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities in the country.
Abubakar said the event was organized to honour Sheikh Nyass, who dedicated all his life towards the services of Islam.
“Nyass lived an exemplary life filled with fear of God and noble character.
“The essence of the celebration is to further cement the existing mutual relationship of the adherents of Sheikh Ahmadu Tijjani all over the world, to immortalize and commemorate the legacy and teachings of the Sheikh and to pray for peaceful coexistence of the entire nation. ” He said.
Prominent clerics from Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, United States of America, Mali, Egypt Senegal, Sudan, Ghana, Cameroon, Niger and other European and African countries have graced the occasion.
