The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria was on Thursday Dec. 3rd, 2020 Inaugurated its Oyo State Chapter at Grand Serene Hotel, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The programme which started at exactly 12:15 pm with the opening prayer, offered by Mr. Adade Sunday Larry. Thereafter, the FTAN Vice President, Southwest Otunba Ayo Olumoko confirmed the presence of the selected members for certification. The inauguration message was delivered by the Vice President, who encouraged and admonished the new executives to be proactive in discharging their duties, work together and collaborate to get the desired result. He also advised them not to work disjointedly in order to keep their relevance as professionals.
He further stressed the need for the certified executives to project actionable plans that would incorporate the stakeholders, policy makers and other relevant tourism organisations in Oyo State to synergistically work together through a generic framework for tourism development.
The training session was conducted by the Vice President, explaining the full implementation of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, FTAN Constitution as a guide to be diligent, productive and to structure the Chapter for excellent performances. He advised that, the new FTAN Executives are compact enough to work with the State Government for effective and efficient management of tourism industry in Oyo State.
The presence of Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Oyo State added more glamour to the event, assisted by the Directors of Tourism and Culture, Mrs. Agboola and Mrs. Lawal.
In his welcome address, the VP Southwest appreciated the Hon. Commissioner for taking his time to attend the inauguration of the FTAN-Oyo State Chapter. Also, he charged the Hon. Commissioner about the need for the state tourism master plan for Government to see tourism as a money spinning sector that would facilitate rapid development of the state tourism potentials. Otunba Olumoko promised the Chief Tourism Officer that the newly inaugurated FTAN would collaborate with the Stakeholders at all levels of tourism development and the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism for appropriate engagements necessary for tourism development.
In his response, the Hon. Commissioner congratulated the new officers of Oyo State FTAN for they were selected based on thier professional expertise. He encouraged members to continuously operate in line with the constitution and all the contents of FTAN Standing Technical Committees Terms of Reference for positive yield in tourism development. He also advised the members to cooperate with the State Coordinator, Erelu Funmi Rotiba for successful implementation of FTAN plans for Oyo State tourism development. Furthermore, he requested the State Chapter to be committed and supportive of the State Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde’s quest of taking tourism to the next level.
Thanking Otunba Olumoko, the Hon. Commissioner promised his support for FTAN- Oyo State Chapter for partnership and collaboration and advised the VP to continue to push for sustainable development of tourism in Oyo State through his unrelenting commitment and prayed for success in all FTAN programmes.
However, all certified members of FTAN-Oyo State Chapter were formally introduced to the Hon. Commissioner and his Directors by the VP, Southwest, Otunba Ayo Olumoko.
