David Lyon, has emerged as the flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress, APC governorship primaries in Bayelsa State South-South, Nigeria.
David Lyon won with the total of 42,138, while other of his opponents Mrs Diseye Nsirim, scored 1,533 votes.
Former Minister for Agriculture, Heineken Lokpobiri, scored 571 votes, while Preye Aganaba, scored 354 votes.
Prince Amgbare scored 633 votes while Professor Maureen Etebu scored 564 votes.
The Chief Coalition Officer, Dangana Emmanuel, who announced the result in Yenagoa said the direct mode of primary as agreed by Bayelsa stakeholders and confirmed by the national working committee was what was used.
Meanwhile, the Minister of state for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, who also took part in the exercise in Okpoama ward 4 in Brass local government area of the State, stated that the primaries was conducted peacefully.
Sylva, a former governor of the State and leader of APC, hailed the party faithful in Okpoama ward 4 for the violence free exercise, adding that the party was going into the November 16th 2019 governorship election as a united family, to wrestle power for the PDP in the State.
He went further to say that the APC was the only hope for Bayelsans, having witnessed years of suffering through the misrule of PDP in the State.
He said APC will give new hope to the people come November 16.
“I’m happy that at last we’ve had a very peaceful and orderly primary here in Okpoama ward 4, everybody conducted themselves in an orderly manner and queue behind the candidates of their choice. Timipre Sylva added.
Sylva said the APC has shown readiness to win Bayelsa state come November 16, 2019. He believe that the APC flag bear will be better than whoever the other parties will present.
Sylva was satisfied with the direct primaries method, “We decided to adopt the direct primary where everybody is involved, every member of the party member will partake in it, this is the test of what we present at the general election,” he said.
The people of Okpoama ward 4 voted massively for Chief David Lyon, where he garnered majority of votes ahead of other aspirants.
