In its stride to contribute its own quota at stemming the spread of Coronavirus in Ekiti State, the Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture has produced protective face masks made from Aso Oke.
The Director-General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, Ambassador Wale Ojo – Lanre who presented the first batch of the face masks to the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Professor Rasaki, en route to the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr John Kayode Fayemi and the State Executive Council in his office said that the Council was actuated to produce the face masks using Aso Oke, traditional apparel of Ekiti in order to reinforce the fervent commitment and energetic stride of Governor John Kayode Fayemi at ensuring that Ekiti State is no go area for COVID-19.
Ambassador Ojo- Lanre said that Coronavirus was not just a viral malaise or disease like HIV or others which take a long time to kill but a pandemic which kills within few days of annexing a victim hence the need for all hands to be on the deck to checkmate this murderous scourge.
He revealed that the Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture bearing in mind the vision of Dr Kayode Fayemi and the direction of the Commissioner in line with indigenous creativity and branding put its house in order and brought forth the face masks.
Ambassador Ojo – Lanre disclosed that the face masks which was made in line with the international standard and ethics of protective face mask production were designed, made and sowed by some members of staff of the Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture at the Cultural Centre, Ado Ekiti Ekiti – State .
Prof Ojo Bakare commended the Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture for being always proactive about its objectives and functions
He said he was delighted at seeing that members of his Ministry and the two parastatals have not been locked down of ideas despite the fact that only the top officers were reporting at their duty posts .
Prof Ojo Bakare assured that he would present the face masks to the Governor and the entire Executive Council of Ekiti State.
