Chelsea Beat Man City To Lift Second Champions League Trophy

Chelsea have won their second UEFA Champions League title after defeating Manchester City 1-0 in the final on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola made two changes with Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva coming into the City side, while Fernandinho and Jesus dropped to the bench.

Thomas Tuchel made two changes to the Chelsea team with Kai Havertz and Ngolo Kante coming into the side, while Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic started on the bench.

In the eighth minute, Ederson found Raheem Sterling, who pulled off the back of Reece James and he anaged to get a shot away under pressure which Ederson tipped wide of his near post.

Two minutes later, Mason Mount pulled the ball back for Timo Werner in the middle of the box, only for the German to scuff his effort.

Although City were having more of the possession, it was Chelsea who were creating the better chances as Werner cut inside before trying to catch Ederson out at his near post but a deflection took it into the sidenetting.

The Blues broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute. Mount played a sublime througball to release Havertz through on goal, who rounded Ederson before slotting the ball into an empty net.

In the 73rd minute, Chelsea countered swiftly with Havertz surging through midfield and threading it through to Pulisic, who held off Ruben Dias before chipping his shot over Ederson, but it bounced inches wide of the far post as a huge chance went abegging.

Soon after, Raheem Sterling got to the byline before squaring it for Gabriel Jesus, but Ben Chilwell made a vital last-ditch interception. Mason Mount and Jorginho then linked up well on the edge of the City box before the English midfielder flashed a shot narrowly wide.

Tuchel’s side did well to nullify City’s attacking threat and close out the game as the German tactician went one better after being denied in last year’s final as manager of Paris Saint-Germain.
