The track list for the soundtrack to Marvel’s blockbuster sequel has been made public featuring the Rihanna-led single “Lift Me Up,” which serves as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.
It serves as Rihanna’s first solo release since 2016 with the Tems-penned song being made available last month.
Roc Nation Records, Def Jam Recordings, and Hollywood Records shared the details of the soundtrack album ahead of the film’s theatrical release.
The 19-track compilation features appearances from Burna Boy, Fireboy DML, Tobe Nwigwe, Snow Tha Product, E-40, Tems covers Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry,” while Future teams up with OG DAYV on “Limoncello.” and more.
Director Ryan Coogler, composer Ludwig Göransson, Archie Davis (Chief Creative Officer at Def Jam), and Dave Jordan produced the soundtrack album.
The soundtrack composer, Ludwig Göransson said they spent over 2500 hours recording the score and soundtrack in six studios, across three continents and five countries.
Göransson added that they wanted to move the audience from grief to celebration.
“Ryan and I talked about the importance of creating an immersive journey of sound and voice.
“If we used a song in the film, we wanted it to be the entire song, and to be connected to the story. Thematically, we wanted to move the audience from grief to celebration.
“When you listen to the soundtrack, you can close your eyes and relive the experience of the movie. That was the intention.
“The audience will hear over 250 musicians, two orchestras, two choirs, and over 40 vocalists throughout the film,” Göransson said in a statement.
