The abductors of Dapchi school girls, Yobe have been condemned in totality by the Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, describing them as “weak”.
Aregbesola who spoke on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of a 2-day conference of Osun Officials’ Wives Association, OSUNWA, urged Nigerians to continue praying for the release of the abducted girls.
The condemned rampant case of kidnap in the country, urging women to teach their children how to protect and defend their country.
“As women, you should use your definely inspired position to change the world for good. Nigeria is not what it should today because women are not playing their roles.
Aregbesola who is the Patron and Chief Host, called on women to form an anti-war movement and as well avoid exchanging money for votes.
“We must pray earnestly for the return of those ladies that were denied their right and liberty. Some idiots, whatever name they call them, denied our girls their rights and liberty. If they are not weak, they should have faced the men and see the consequence.
The wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, who also corroborated the Governor, insisted that the abductors were born by women who should have impacted positively on them.
Speaking on the theme: “Virtuous Woman – Pushing for Greater Development”, Dolapo who was the mother of the day, charged women to examine their role in their various home.
She called on women to be of Virtuous by going back to their cultural heritage and teach their children moral education, stressing that social vices could only be curtailed by women.
The Chairperson, Osun Officials’ Wives Association and wife of the Governor, Mrs. Sherifat Aregbesola, said the forum was to further retool government officials wives with emerging knowledge about various aspects of life.
She hinted that efforts are on to have a regional Southwest women conference, to discuss zonal development issues that affect women in the society.
“We have of the firm belief that this association is well placed to mobilize all round women development in our state. The members have the capacity to carry out vital intervention in development programmes and projects.
“Our development focus will embrace training skills and economic empowerment, creation of awareness and intervention in critical health related issues, civic and development policy advocacy among others,” she added.
