Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the former celebrity couple, have finally reached a divorce settlement following an eight-year legal battle.
According to People’s Magazine, James Simon, Jolie’s lawyer, confirmed that the ex-lovers signed their divorce on December 30. The terms of the agreement have not been made public.
Simon disclosed that the actress was “exhausted” and “relieved”, adding that she has been focused on “finding peace and healing” for the family.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” he said.
“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
Simon also disclosed that not every legal issue was over between Jolie and Pitt.
On September 19, 2016, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt. They were declared legally single on April 12, 2019.
In 2022, Jolie alleged that Pitt grabbed her by the head, shook her, choked one of their children, and struck another when they tried to defend her during a 2016 flight.
The filing claimed that, on September 14, 2016, Jolie, Pitt, and their six kids were traveling from the winery to Los Angeles.
She also alleged that, amid the conflict, Pitt poured beer on her and red wine on the kids.
Pitt was not charged following a police investigation into the incident.
