Despite recent criticism by the leadership of the All Progressive Congress APC, Taraba state chapter on Governor Darius Ishaku’s nonperformance and long stay away from the state, the state house of assembly today pass vote of confidence on the governor.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by the house deputy speaker and member representing Bali II Hon. Harman Adama during plenary at the state house of assembly.
The speaker Taraba state house of assembly and member representing Lau state constituency, Hon. Joseph Albasu Kunini while reading the resolution which was sign by two third of the house said the vote of confidence on the governor base on the track record of the governor and his deputy since their re-lection in the last gubernatorial election in 2019.
“Since inauguration on the 29th of May, 2019, the government of Taraba state under the able leadership of His Excellency Arch. Darius Ishaku has in spite of deliberate distractions been performing its functions for the betterment of the lives of the teaming masses of Taraba state, for instance within the period in question, Governor Ishaku has carefully constituted and inaugurated an all-inclusive executive council”
“The governor has reduce to the barest minimum the incessant cases of communal, violence, kidnappings and armed banditry that had bedeviled the state”
“Awarded contract and mobilized the contractors for dualization of Jauro Yino – Kpanti Napu section of the Wukari – Yola highway with provision for the first ever fly over in the north east sub region of the country”
The speaker said the key among the achievement of the governor was the consistent payment of civil servants salaries and the recent employment of 300 personals into the state civil service which have busted employment in the state.
“By every standard, the governor and his deputy has performed above average within the present circumstances, this house as a representative of the entire people of Taraba state therefore hereby move and let be resolved by honourable members of the house that a vote of confidence be unanimously passed on the governor and his deputy Haruna Manu”
The house also debunk any alleged claim of non-performance due to absence from Jalingo the state capital by the governor as the record of performance are for all and sundry to see.
Albasu said the house will desist to be used by any unpatriotic persons or group of persons who for selfish reasons are making unwarranted remarks and insinuation about the health status of the governor and his administration.
