Adekunle Gold, the Nigerian singer, has come through with his highly anticipated extended play (EP) titled ‘Tio Tequila.
The musician announced the EP release via his Instagram page in the early hours of Thursday.
‘Tio Tequila is out now!” he wrote.
In March, the singer teamed up with Zinoleesky to put out ‘Party No Dey Stop’, a track from the EP.
Other songs in the project are ‘Do You Mind?’ and ‘Omo Eko’.
The three-track EP is his first project under Def Jam Recordings — his new label.
Def Jam Recordings is owned by Universal Music Group (UMG) and has worked with American superstars such as Jay Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West.
Tunji Balogun, Def Jam’s CEO/chairman, earlier praised Gold for his visible growth in “songwriting, artistry, vocals and showmanship.”
Balogun also said he has always wanted to sign the Afrobeats star.
Gold gained popularity after putting out ‘Sade’ and a high-life cover of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’.
He was signed to YBNL in 2015 but later exited the record label after his contract expired.
He founded Afro Urban Records, his own label, and released two albums, ‘About 30’ in 2018 and ‘Catch Me If You Can’ in 2022.
The singer has also won numerous awards and recognition.
