Aare Ona Kakanfo: Oluwo drums support for Gani Adams to promote Yoruba culture

Oluwo of Iwo, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has
felicitated with the National Coordinator and worldwide Convener of
Oodua Progressive Union (OPU), Otunba Gani Adams on his recent
appointment as Aare Ona Kakanfo of the Yoruba race. Oluwo drummed
unalloyed support for Adams, saying he is an unrepentant activist,
agitator and liberator of not only the Yorubas but also the black race.

The monarch also congratulated the Yoruba race for adding another
feather to the wing of Otunba Adams for the advantage of our surviving
entity.

Oba Akanbi noted the vacancy of the seat of Kakanfo for years as
regrettable, praying the appointment of Otunba Gani Adams as the right
choice of a round peg in a round hole. He commended his personality as
exceptional Yoruba needs to protect her heritage and propel the
civilization of our culture. The monarch prayed for royal supports for
the Aare to protect our heritage and promote our interest to the
world.

The commendation of his elevation was contained in a felicitation
statement issued to journalists yesterday by his press secretary, Alli
Ibraheem.

Oluwo said Otunba Adams is one of the hope of the Yorubas, the highest
traditional titles holder in Nigeria and human right activist per
excellent I have ever known. His enthronement as Aare Ona kakanfo is
in registration of his commitment to defending the heritage of our
rich cultural regalia.

Oba Akanbi urged the new Aare Ona Kakanfo to device civilization in
administering his office, saying many barbaric beliefs of the past are
inhuman and demotivating to attract more cultural followership. He implored Otunba to address the retrogressive aspect of our culture mostly the killings in the name of rituals. He promised his backing to the Aare to safe our culture from extinction.Oluwo
described Yoruba culture as the best to be promulgated by
civilization. He said the experience and exposure of Gani Adams is a
blessing to the Yorubas, Nigerians and the Black race.

“Appointment of Gani Adams is a right decision especially at this fragile period when our revered and rich tradition is threatened:at a time when ritual killings are perpetrated in the name of culture, kidnapping is trekking to Yoruba race barefooted.

I’m glad for Gani Adam’s exposure and experience. His primary duty is the defense of Yoruba race, her people and culture against oppression. And he is widely travelled.

My primary requests are: Curtailing incessant killings of mostly the students for rituals by Alfas, Pastors and Ritualists, curbing kidnapping, stopping Offering of human part as sacrifice, promoting modernization of sacred places.

I am optimistic the new air greeting the appointment of Otunba Gani Adams will liberate the Yorubas from poverty of mind that has beclouded our sense of reasoning for accepting offering a child that may grow up to be president of this nation to deities.

Otunba Gani Adams, all these are wars that must be fought if our tradition is to be attractive once again because no child will be motivated to a deity/culture that accept human being as sacrifice.

institutions to drum their support for him”

else should divide us. He is the helmsman of the Oduduwa People’s
Congress and worldwide convener of Oduduwa Progressive Union (OPU)
