Lagos State Council of Eze Ndigbo and the Igbo residents in Lagos recently joined the long list of Nigerians sending goodwill messages to Aare Ona Kakanfoto designate, Otunba Gani Adams.
The message signed by HRH EZEOHA Dr PAT ENEH (jp on) EZE NDI IGBO of OJO LGA Lagos. (Secretary Ndi EZEIGBO Lagos State)saluted the courage and steadfastness of the Alaafin Oyo, to have overlook money and political antecedents as strong factors in determining the Generalissimo of Yorubaland.
According to the statement, no doubt a lot of factors come into play in the choice of the mother of all Chieftaincy title in Yorubaland,it is obvious that the choice of Adams is factored on his commitment over the years to being in the fore front of those who defend the interest of Yoruba race. That is also not forgetting his feats in the area of cultural promotion with Olokun Festival Foundation.
“We have a longstanding relationship with the Aare Ona Kakanfo Designate, we have trust in his ability to promote and ensure peaceful coexistence between the Yorubas and Igbos.
Adams, although a lover of Yoruba race,he is a leader who encourages other tribes to live in peace with each other”.
The Igbo community the statement confirmed will be in Oyo for the Coronation whenever the date is announced.
Otunba Gani Adams has bagged the most highest and most demanding chieftaincy title in Yoruba land did not come to us as a surprise” the Council said.
It mentioned further that the activities of the new Aare, overtime, in promoting culture and also preserve the integrity of the Yoruba race continue to be a thing of envy, especially to the Ndigbo.
According to the statement ” Otunba Adams, through his desire to fight the cause of his race has become the envy of other races in the country and beyond.
little wonder then that he got the Aare Ona Kakanfo title because he has been able to set a standard with his achievements as the chief promoter of the culture of his people”
Praying that the new Aare would have a good and rewarding reign, the Ndigbo registered that Adams should continue to use the cultural avenue to promote unity and culture among his people, and to also foster unity among existing races in the country.
The group said the Aare should consider a cultural exchange programme with the existing races in the country adding that this will go a long way to promote unity among the diverse ethnic nationalities in the country and also make fulfilled as an individual whose aim had always been to see his culture grow and make others respect his race.
” The truth is that people can only appreciate you when they know what you carry.
“With other races exposed to the culture of your people you which can be dome effectively through a cultural exchange programme, we will come to understand and appericiate each other more for what we are blessed with ” the statement read in part.
