This was made known in letters separately written to the duo, dated March 24, 2023, and jointly signed by Ken Henshaw, Chairman, State Steering Committee African Action Congress, Rivers State Chapter and Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, Member, State Steering Committee of the party, Rivers State chapter, in accordance with Section 81, sub-sections 2 and 3 of the party’s constitution.
The African Action Congress (AAC) has expelled the Rivers State governorship candidate, Dr. Joseph Ngechu Obele and the party’s House of Assembly candidate for Tai Constituency in the state, Kingsley Dimkpa over anti-party conducts.
This was made known in letters separately written to the duo, dated March 24, 2023, and jointly signed by Ken Henshaw, Chairman, State Steering Committee African Action Congress, Rivers State Chapter and Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, Member, State Steering Committee of the party, Rivers State chapter, in accordance with Section 81, sub-sections 2 and 3 of the party’s constitution.
The party accused the candidates of breaching some vital provisions of the party’s constitution in their responses to the queries issued to them.
The letter reads: “Warm greetings from the African Action Congress (AAC) (“The Party”), Rivers State Chapter.
“Sequel to your responses to the queries directed to you in your meeting with State Steering Committee of the Party on 20th March, 2023, which responses run foul of Section 80, Sub-section 2(b) of the Party’s
“Constitution and the Undertaking you undertook as a Candidate of the Party. As a consequence of the foregoing, the State Steering Committee, by virtue of Section 81, sub-sections 2 and 3 of the Party’s Constitution hereby expel you from the Party with immediate effect.”
The party added that the two expelled members have the right to initiate an appeal against the decisions of the Steering Committees as allowed by the constitution of the party.
The letter continues: “In the event that you are aggrieved by this instant decision, you may appeal the decision as provided for in the relevant sections Party’s Constitution.
“By virtue of your instant expulsion, you are to submit all the Party’s properties, documents and paraphernalia in your custody to the Chairman of the State Steering Committee and cease to parade yourself as a member of the Party.
“You are also advised to cease from any further transactions on behalf of or in the name of the Party as the Party will deny any liability arising from your breach or infraction of this instant directive.”
