Oyo state police command has paraded ten suspected criminals that are specialized in hijacking and diverting of trailers on the highways.
The suspected criminals that were paraded today 26th August alongside other
eighteen suspects has confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court for proper prosecution as stated by the state Commissioner of Police Shina Olukolu.
While briefing journalists at the command headquaters , Eleyele Ibadan, the CP said “the suspects were arrested with a Mack trailer loaded with new SUMEC portable generators and some gallons of engine oil at Akinyele area along Ibadan Oyo Expressway and diverted the goods valued about fouty million naira N40M, to an unknown location.
He noted further that the suspected criminals were arrested on 22/08/2019 , at exactly 11:00am by SARS operatives that swung into action base on intelligent information, and in the process the following gang were arrested, and they were identified as Adekunle Awoyode 37 years,[criminal reciever], Sarafadeen Abiodun 32 years, the truck driver, Ismail Oyelowo 28 criminal reciever, Abiodun Azeez 26, Sulimon Olamilekan 25, Olasode Hammed 20 the motor boy,Alhaji Jelil Olowoaje 43 criminal reciever, Hamidu Tafa 23 criminal reciever, Quadri Afeez 31 criminal reciever, Alhaja Wasilat Taiwo 46 also a criminal reciever.
“Exhibits recovered from the suspected criminals are four hundred and ten
(410) brand new SUMEC Generating sets, five hundred and sixty (560) 4
liters gallons of Conoil Engine oil, the hijacked Mack trailer with
registration number EKY 743 XF and one Toyota Camry Car with
registration number SMK 591 EQ, which the suspects used for operation
were recovered from the suspects.” CP Olukolu said.
Speaking with journalists, one of the suspects, Sarafadeen Abiodun the driver of the truck said it is the work of the devil. “I was promised one million naira by my friend Ismail to divert the goods to unknown buyers that are waiting for us in Oyo. I was told at the company that the goods are meant to be delivered to Port Hacout in Rivers State, this is my first time of doing this kind of business and I beg the police to have mercy on me.”
One of the suspects Alhaja Wasilat Taiwo, the criminal reciever said “I was arrested in my house because I allowed the driver to offload the goods into my compound, I was promised one million naira by Alhaji Jelili who introduced me to the business and he had promised to give me the money after selling off
the goods, I did not know that the goods were stolen ones, this is my first time of involving in this kind of a thing like this, I beg for mercy.
However, CP Olukolu paraded one Kazeem Ibrahim aged 47, with ten Bajaj
Motorcycles and three Honda Motocycles. The suspect who was arrested in his hideout at Yemetu area of Ibadan is specialized in buying and receiving Motocycles from different Armed Robbery syndicates within Ibadan metropolis and he was arrested by a team of SARS operatives who responded to distress call from his area, on 21, 08,2019, at exactly 2: 11 and the process led to the arrest of Kazeem Ibrahim, who confessed that the bikes were snatcched from their owners mostly commercial motocyclists.
Speaking with the newsmen, Kazeem Ibrahim, confessed to the crime,
but said “the bikes were stolen by my customers, they are the ones that use to bring it to me, I know that the bikes are stolen bikes, I beg the police, they should help me, I will not return to crime again if am being pardoned. He begged
