Man Attacked by Assaillants
Reports indicate that armed men recently forcefully broke into a family home, shouting repeatedly in Yoruba language “Ẹlẹ́rìí yẹn dà?”, “Ikú ni fún gbogbo ẹlẹ́rìí!”, and “Hammed, bọ̀ síta!”, which translates as “Where is the witness?”, “Death to all witnesses!”, and “Hameed, come outside!”
The report added that the victim has been in constant fear hence affecting his mental health. ”They searched every room in the house looking for me. When they found my brother instead, they viciously attacked him with cutlasses before shooting him. My family watched helplessly as he was murdered’ the victim said.
He added : ”They thought that my own brother lost his life because these men believed he was me; this is something I have been struggling with, while having to live with it every single day. I carry the pain, guilt, and fear with me constantly, knowing that I could have been the one who was killed”.
He told reporters that his wife, Seyi Adegboyega, said she has been receiving threatening telephone calls from unknown individuals demanding that she reveal his whereabouts. ”They warned her that if she refused to tell them where I was. ”What frightened her the most was that they knew she was living in the Republic of Benin, proving that they had been monitoring our family even after we fled Nigeria. Out of fear for her safety and that of our children, she reported the threats to the Nigerian Police. She was informed that, because she is currently outside Nigeria, there is little they can do regarding her immediate protection,” the man added.
Reports of violent cult-related activities in and around Ijebu-Ode continue to reinforce. There have been repeated reports in the media of clashes between rival cult groups, targeted killings, shootings, kidnappings, and attacks that have left residents living in fear, even in December 2025 a police officer was killed during one of these incidents.
