FIFA has ruled that the appeal lodged by Belgium’s football association against the decision to allow United States striker Folarin Balogun to play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is inadmissible.
In a statement released on Monday, FIFA said the FIFA Appeal Committee found the request submitted by the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) inadmissible.
The appeal challenged the FIFA Disciplinary Committee’s earlier decision to suspend the one-match ban imposed on Balogun, effectively making the American forward eligible to play.
Belgium had sought to overturn that decision ahead of their Round of 16 clash against co-hosts the United States, scheduled for July 7.
Further details are expected.
