The publisher of Triangle International Magazine, Femi Salako, has explained why the organisation chose London as the venue for its upcoming 10th anniversary celebration and lecture instead of hosting the event in Nigeria.
In a statement released to journalists, Salako said that although the magazine remains proudly Nigerian, it has grown over the past decade into a respected international platform celebrating distinguished Africans across different sectors and professions both on the continent and in the diaspora.
According to him, the decision to hold the anniversary in London reflects the publication’s expanding international presence and outlook. He noted that the city plays a strategic role in the organisation’s history and operations as its international headquarters.
Salako explained that the anniversary will not only celebrate a decade of media excellence and institutional growth but will also serve as a platform to deepen global conversations about Africa’s development, leadership, enterprise, and international cooperation.
He added that the magazine has consistently recognised outstanding Africans in areas such as governance, business, diplomacy, academia, media, youth development, and humanitarian service, regardless of nationality.
The publisher further said that London provides a global platform capable of attracting influential Africans in the diaspora, international investors, development partners, and strategic stakeholders whose involvement is important to Africa’s growth.
Salako also emphasized that one of the goals of the anniversary lecture is to encourage Africans in the diaspora to strengthen their economic and intellectual connections with the continent by investing in Africa’s future.
According to him, diaspora communities remain critical stakeholders in Africa’s transformation, particularly through remittances, entrepreneurship, policy engagement, and institutional partnerships.
He also highlighted the long-standing diplomatic, educational, and economic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, noting that the relationship makes London a symbolic and practical location for discussions about Africa’s future.
Salako reaffirmed that despite the overseas venue, the identity and mission of the magazine remain deeply rooted in Nigeria. He explained that hosting the event in London is intended to strengthen the publication’s international reach while maintaining its African vision.
The anniversary lecture and awards ceremony are expected to bring together policymakers, entrepreneurs, professionals, scholars, and members of the African community in the United Kingdom to discuss development issues affecting the continent.
Salako described the 10th anniversary as a major milestone, representing ten years of storytelling, celebrating excellence, and building connections across nations.
