The third edition of Canada-Nigeria Business Investment Summit, held on October 13, 2024, concluded with great success, bringing together top dignitaries, senior government officials, and key business leaders from both countries. The three-days event was held at Seraton Toronto Airport Hotel and Conference Centre, Dixon road, Toronto. Canada.
It focused on enhancing investment opportunities, the summit represented a major milestone in advancing economic cooperation and strengthening bilateral ties between Canada and Nigeria.
Keynote speeches by government officials and industry leaders underscored the shared commitment of both nations, Canada and Nigeria, to deepening economic collaboration. Notable attendees included the Executive Governor of Niger State, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago, Senator Victor Umeh, Chairman, Senate Committee on Diaspora, Hon. Touchukwu Okere, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigeria in Diaspora Commission, Ambassador Nzewuji Obioma, Charges D’ Affairs, Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa, Gareth Bloor, President of the African Chamber of Commerce, Wayne Florean, President of Mine Africa, Harold Schroeder, President of Schroeder & Schroeder Inc., Paul Stevers, President of Think Renewables Group Inc., Pius Ukeyima Akutah, Executive Secretary/CEO of Nigeria Shipper Council, Prof. Ahmed O. The summit also showcased innovative businesses from Canada and Nigeria, with companies pitching their projects to potential investors. These included Paul Jegede, Chairman of Japaul Group of Companies, First Bank Nigeria Limited, Jideofor Ahaneku, Business Consultant of Gobuyhub; Dr. Kunle Ibitoye of Beaver Homes; Sumi Shan, Chief Strategy Officer of Dunya Habitats; and Kweku Essien of Seso Global, among others.
The Canada-Nigeria Business & Investment Summit was deemed a tremendous success, highlighting the shared vision of both countries to collaborate for mutual growth. In his welcome Address at the Gala and Award Night, titled “Rebuilding Of Our Dear Country Nigeria” Mr. Samuel Adewale, President, Leadership and Governance Canada, urged the participants to continue strive for excellence, champion, diversity, and advocate for transparency and accountability in whatever we do. Let us continue to work together to unlock the vast potential that exists between Canada and Nigeria. As the summit concluded, attendees expressed optimism about the future of investment and collaboration. The event set the stage for continued dialogue and a strong commitment to fostering economic growth and development in both nations.
