One former advocate for the Yoruba nation,Tenny Omoologo has voiced concerns about alleged attempts by the group she once supported to undermine her.
She stated that she was actively involved in the Yoruba nation agitation movement but withdrew her support upon discovering insincerity within the group. She cited concerns over their alleged exploitation of individuals for financial gain, which conflicted with her principles.
During the arrest of certain agitators, she made it known how she tirelessly campaigned for their release, enduring personal hardship in the process.
Reports indicate that she was abducted and subjected to torture as she worked tirelessly day and night for their freedom. She reportedly suffered brutalization, bullying, and sustained injuries, including burns from a hot pressing iron on her thigh, along with being struck by a vehicle, and having her bank accounts frozen.
While contacting one of our correspondents, she made it known how she played a pivotal role in facilitating the release of those apprehended by the DSS police at Sunday Igboho’s residence and in arranging legal proceedings for Sunday Igboho himself. Despite previous conflicts and criticisms directed at her, she diligently worked towards securing the release of Amudat Babatunde Ifeoluwa.
Tenny Omoologo disclosed how she organized fundraising efforts for the individuals using their designated account numbers. Despite her generous contributions, she did not receive appreciation from them and instead faced insults and attacks.
Amidst escalating conflicts and serious brawls within their group, particularly evident around 2022, she made the decision to distance herself from the turmoil.
According to her, she said, “At a point in time, there was a fight between myself and Sunday Igboho over concerns regarding escalating conflicts among his supporters. I urged him to address the issue peacefully, but it appears he prioritized political maneuvering over resolution.
I realized it on December 21, 2022, during a meeting, that everything they were doing was solely for Tinubu’s political agenda. When they began targeting me and sending people to attack and bully me for confronting Igboho about deceiving the Yoruba people for years in the name of a false “Yoruba nation,” I knew it was time to leave.”
Omoologo came forward with allegations of deception, extortion, and misuse of funds by the group. She claims that her influence and resources were exploited for personal gain, with funds donated by others being diverted towards personal projects such as house construction. The woman asserted that after revealing these truths to the public, she has faced prolonged attacks on her social media accounts, including YouTube and Facebook, lasting over 8 months.
Omoologo disclosed that tensions escalate as discussions unfold regarding the allocation of funds to detainees. Reports indicate that ₦1.2 million, designated for group expenses, was distributed, with ₦100,000 given to each of the 12 detainees. Criticism arises amid concerns that the funds were intended for gradual accumulation, contrasting with their intentions to lavish it as they usually do.
Following her disclosures, the woman claims to have faced a barrage of attacks and harassment orchestrated by multiple individuals, such as one identified as Dara, who initiated the brawl between her and Sunday Igboho, also, “Akanda Oro Awikoko”, and a disabled boy she had previously aided and others. These individuals allegedly aimed to blackmail her and smear her reputation, although she asserted that she remained unfazed by their efforts.
Despite the challenges she faced, the woman expressed a lack of concern regarding the actions taken against her. She recounts her efforts to advocate for peace among the parties involved, urging them to refrain from conflict.
However, feeling unheard, she publicly disassociated herself from the Yoruba nation fighters on June 2023, warning against any association with her or involvement in her affairs.
Subsequently, she stated that she redirected her attention towards her personal endeavors, which included critiquing governmental policies, dissecting current events, and advocating for justice on behalf of the marginalized and victims of unjust treatment. She stated that she ceased participation in activities associated with the Yoruba nation agitation.
Following an anonymous sender’s message, Tenny Omoologo stated, ” I was forwarded a video wherein an individual alleged that I had knowledge of a plot by Onitiri to kill Sunday Igboho. Promptly, I contacted both the speaker and the video uploader for clarification.”
The individual in the video did not directly accuse me. Upon contacting him, he begged me and admitted to being paid by undisclosed parties to defame me. He pledged to address and amend his previous statements, which he followed through on his promise on a public show
But one person identified as Amudat Habibat Babatunde, also known as Lady K, falsely implicated me in a plot to harm Sunday Igboho. I have no association with her and I am unaware of her motives.”
During a live broadcast this morning, Lady K reiterated her claims that I was aware of a plot to kill Sunday Igboho, despite lacking evidence. She also alleged that I secretly sought communication with her, which I vehemently deny. I challenge her to provide evidence for these accusations, as they are baseless attempts to damage my reputation.”
“Recently, there were reports of Yoruba nation agitators allegedly invading the Oyo State secretariat in Ibadan. However, I cannot provide any insight into these events as I am no longer affiliated with the group, and I am not informed about their activities. This can be verified through my social media profiles.”
“It is regrettable that individuals have reportedly urged the police to apprehend me in connection with the events at the Oyo State secretariat, purportedly due to one of my Facebook posts.
“Amid ongoing allegations, I suspect a concerted effort to discredit me, similar to the treatment another individual received after distancing himself from their circles. This person faced severe harassment and eventually fled to Ghana, where he tragically took his own life. I deny any involvement in these unfounded accusations and urge authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. I have no knowledge of the recent secretariat invasion by their group, having departed from the Yoruba nation agitators’ association in June 2023. The situation has left me feeling overwhelmed and distressed.
