Davido, DJ Lambo, Cohbams named winners at 2022 Beatz Awards
Davido, the award-winning Afrobeats singer, has hinted that his next album might be his last.
In a recent post via X, Davido claimed some people desperately want him out of the music industry.
“Yall niggas really want me out the game that bad ?? Oya after next album I no do again . So una fit get peace,” he wrote.
Davido’s post comes a few days after he lamented the “absence of peace in the music industry”.
“Since I came in the game dem never get peace, I love it! Make I find somewhere with beach go relax,” he wrote.
The ‘Assurance’ hitmaker was recently in a war of words with Wizkid, his colleague who had taunted him with a video of him on his knees, pleading and crying.
Davido fired back at Wizkid, labeling his career as “dead”.
In 2020, Davido warned that if Burna Boy, another music heavyweight, and Wizkid teamed up against him, it wouldn’t work.
“Nobody will gang up against me such that it would work. It hurts me sometimes. I’ve tried with Burna but how long will I keep doing that? It’s either you don’t like me or… I‘m saying this now,” he said.
“Let’s all come together. But they won’t respond. With ‘Fem’, I just had to. If he replies, I’ll like it.”
In 2011, Davido released his first single ‘Back When’, a song from his debut album ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ (2012).
Davido gained popularity over the release of ‘Dami Duro’, the second single from his debut album.
In 2012, he won the ‘next rated’ award at The Headies.
In the last decade, the singer has delivered hundreds of chart-topping singles like ‘Gobe’, ‘One of a Kind’, ‘Skelewu’, ‘Aye’, ‘Owo Ni Koko’, ‘If’, ‘Fall’, ‘Fia’ and ‘Assurance’ among others.
He put out albums ‘A Good Time’ and ‘A Better Time‘ n 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Davido released ‘Timeless’, his fourth album which comprised 17 tracks, on March 31, 2023.
He is one of the most-followed African artistes on social media platforms.
