Police are making the public aware of an arrest in connection with recent voyeurism acts, after a group of female students noticed someone holding a cellphone over a curtain while they showered at a University of Toronto (U of T) residence.
Shunnosuke Koshikawa, 19, an international student, has been arrested and charged with voyeurism and mischief.
Authorities said that between January 2024 and March 2024, police received reports of voyeurism in the Spadina Avenue and Willcocks Street area.
According to investigators, female students entered an all-female washroom within U of T’s Wilson Hall Residence.
Police said while the students were changing and using the shower, they noticed an unknown person holding a cellphone over the shower curtain.
It’s believed that Koshikawa captured photos of the female students and fled the washroom in an unknown direction.
A police spokesperson said officers are asking the public to be aware and report any suspicious activity to the authorities, noting that there may be more victims.
