Should the Kansas City Chiefs fail to make it to the Super Bowl this season, Taylor Swift may have to shake off some hate.
According to NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre, it will be the pop superstar that takes the brunt of the blame from fans if her boyfriend Travis Kelce and Co. don’t return to the title game.
“If they don’t win it,” Favre told TMZ Sports, “or get to the Super Bowl, people are going to say, ‘That’s why.’”
Favre doesn’t think that it would be right, of course, but that’s the way the fans will feel.
He also is backing the defending champions to go on a run in the playoffs.
“Until Andy Reid is unseated as the champion,” Favre said. “I have to see it to believe it.”
The Chiefs are off to a good start, having defeated the Miami Dolphins on Saturday in their wild-card matchup.
And, of course, Swift was at the game to cheer on Kelce – from the confines of a cozy luxury box while the area was gripped by frigid temperatures. At kickoff, the temperature at Arrowhead Stadium with the windchill was around -30ºC.
She was seen with Donna Kelce and Brittany Mahomes dancing during the game and having a lot of fun while the Chiefs stormed their way to the win.
While K.C. has struggled somewhat down the stretch, having lost five of their last 10 regular-season games, Kelce had his best game in weeks, racking up 71 yards on seven receptions.
Next up will either be a trip to Buffalo to face the Bills, or a home game against the Houston Texans.
So, either way, it’ll likely be another ice-cold affair.
