Jose Peseiro has extended his contract with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to continue as coach of the Super Eagles.
The duration and contract details have not been made public.
It was, however understood that the Portuguese has agreed to a pay cut and will also take charge of the Super Eagles B team.
The former Venezuela national team coach has also been handed a semi-final target in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 63-year-old has also invited 23 players for the upcoming AFCON qualifier against Sao Tome & Principe.
The list includes new invitees — Jordan Torunarigha, Victor Boniface and Gift Orban, while the duo of Bruno Onyemaechi and Raphael Onyedika were also recalled.
Nigeria will face Sao Tome & Principe in the final Group A match of the AFCON qualifiers on September 10 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
The Super Eagles have qualified for the 2023 AFCON which will take place in Ivory Coast in January 2024. They require a point to finish as group winners.
