Toronto and the GTA could be in for a bit of unsettled weather on Thursday with thunderstorm watches and warnings in effect for the region.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Toronto and elsewhere in the GTA, however, other areas including Newmarket, Pickering, Oshawa, as well as northern York and Durham regions, are under a warning.
The storm system could arrive by the afternoon and potentially bring with it nickel size hail, wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and up to 40 millimetres of rain.
“A line of thunderstorms is expected to continue tracking southeast today while strengthening. The primary threat with these thunderstorms is hail. This line is expected to move out of the area late this afternoon,” the national weather agency says.
The forecast calls for a high of 25 C but it will feel close to 31 C with the humidity.
