The Toronto Blue Jays’ Chris Bassitt is ‘pitching in’ to make a difference.
The starting pitcher and his wife Jessica announced the ‘Bassitts Pitch In’ program in support of the Jays Care Foundation on Tuesday.
As part of the program, the Bassitt family is pledging to donate $10,000 for each game the Jays win with Bassitt on the roster.
All proceeds will go towards Jay’s Care RBI Summer Edition — a free sports program that aims to support the physical and mental well-being of children living in under-resourced areas of Toronto. In 2023, the RBI Summer Edition had more than 1,000 students participate in baseball training, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises.
“When we joined the Blue Jays, our family immediately felt embraced by the local community and fans across the country. We are building our family in Toronto and believe strongly in giving back to the community that supports us on and off the field,” said the Bassitt family in a press release.
“Sports have an incredibly positive impact on children’s emotional and physical well-being, and we are excited to partner with Jays Care on all the amazing work they do with kids and sports.”
Blue Jays fans can show their support for the Bassitt family and their cause by donating online.
