Senator Dino Melaye who once represented Kogi West Senatorial District in the National assembly, has won the Kogi State governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Melaye scored the highest votes in yesterday’s indirect primary election held in Lokoja, the state capital.
The election which had former Kaduna State governor Ahmed Makarfi as the returning officer had delegates drawn from the 21 local government areas of the state as well as top officials of the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.
While declaring the results of the primary election, the electoral officer, Barr. Laureta Ogwuche said Melaye scored 313 votes to defeat the runner up, Mr Ilonah Idoko Kingsley who scored 124 votes.
