Yemi Alade, the Nigerian singer, has come through with the visuals for ‘Pounds and Dollars’, the first track off her ‘African Baddie‘ EP.
The ‘Johnny’ crooner announced the release of the music video on Thursday.
The music video was shot by Clarence Peters, the renowned music director.
‘Pounds and Dollars’ features Phyno who adds spice to the song with his incredible rap delivery.
In the song, the singers talk about the importance of hard work and prayers in achieving one’s goals.
“What’s gon be is gon be, my mama say, do the necessary and get down on your knees. What’s gon be is gon be, pray every day, do the necessary, your hustle go pay,” the lyrics read.
Yemi Alade has established a name for herself as one of the most prominent female musicians in the country.
She rose to the limelight with the release of ‘Johnny’, her 2014 single.
Yemi Alade was nominated for the ‘Best International Act Africa’ category at BET Awards 2015 and 2016.
She is also a two-time MOBO Awards nominee for ‘Best International Act’ in 2014 and 2015.
She won the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) for Best Female in 2015 and 2016.
Following her feature on ‘Lion King’, Beyonce’s 2019 album, Alade signed a licensing deal with Universal Music Group (UMG) Africa as an exclusive worldwide record music partner with Effyzzie Music Group, her label.
