Ike Oye, national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), says the party would appeal the judgment that nullified the governorship primary in Abia.
In a judgment issued on Thursday, Binta Nyako, judge of a federal high court in Abuja, ordered that a fresh primary election should be conducted within 14 days.
Reacting to the judgment during the inauguration of the party’s campaign council in Abia on Friday, Oye described it as a “travesty of justice”.
He said the judgment “will not stand the scrutiny of the appellate court,” adding that the party supporters “not to lose sleep over the judgement”.
He assured them that Ibe remains the authentic flag bearer, having been elected during the May 29 primary election.
Oye alleged that the orchestrated attacks on the party by anti-democratic forces were designed “to possibly destabilise the party, which they considered their major threat”.
Meanwhile, Ibe has said he is unconcerned by the verdict “because I know that it will not stand the test of time”.
