About 54 Students of the Osun State University, UNIOSUN will be graduating with a first class honours at the 6th Convocation Ceremony of the Institution which would commence on Tuesday.
This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Labode Popoola over the weekend at a Press Briefing to herald the activities of the Convocation Ceremony.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, 54 students with first class honours accounted for 4.36 per cent of the graduands, while 512 bagged second class honours, upper division, which is 41.12 per cent.
Similarly, 589 students graduated with second class lower division, representing 43.6 per cent and 139 third class categories, with only 2 passed, he stated.
According to Prof. Popoola, the 54 graduands with first class honour were at the vantage position to work in the University as graduate assistants, to contribute their academic excellence to the growth of the Ivory Tower.
Prof. Popoola, emphasised that the affected graduating students with first class had been subjected to thorough and rigorous process to certify their grade.
Popoola, added further that, the university had not recorded any invention in the academic years based on paucity of funds.
He said, “Inventions come from serious research work through funding, society must invest in the university for it to reciprocate and develop the society in return”.
The UNIOSUN Boss, said the convocation ceremony will also witness the official commissioning of various projects.
“We shall be commissioning the college of Health Science building, Environmental Science building, and a Table Water Factory while a modern library building named after the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof. Sola Akinrinade would also be part of the projects to be commissioned”.
