As the Good Friday and Easter festival is around the corner, the Acting Executive Secretary, Office of Transportation, Osun State, Engr. Wahab Olayiwola Ibrahim has called on motorists to always obey traffic rules and support officers of the agency.
The Acting Executive Secretary made this know while fielding questions from Newsmen in Osogbo the state capital on Sunday.
Engr. Ibrahim, said as usual, his officers will be strategically deploy to all critical areas in the state in order to ensure free flow of traffic during and after the festive period.
Engr. Ibrahim emphasised that, every motorists should always obey the traffic light at Ola-Iya junction in Osogbo, saying this would contribute to free flow of vehicles while they should obey all traffic rules.
Ibrahim, who commended the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for the provision of good roads across the state warned all motorists to drive safely and comply with all road signals during the coming Easter period.
The Acting Executive Secretary, who called on members of the public to always demonstrating maximum support and cooperation to the officers of the agency in order to serve the State well noted that, all policies of the government were not to cause any hardship but for the betterment of all and sundry.
While warning his men against corruption, Engr. Ibrahim enjoins all of them to see themselves as a dedicated, honest, and God-fearing officers all the time while they must presents themselves to the general public as a good representatives of Osun State Government.
The Acting Executive Secretary, admonished members of the public found guilty of any traffic offences to always insist on the collection of receipt as P.O.S. is attached to his officers at their different locations across the state.
Engr. Ibrahim, added that “members of the public especially motorcyclists, motorists, vehicle owners and all road users in the state should ensure compliance with all traffic rules and regulations in order to avert accident”.
Warning the public further, the Acting Executive Secretary said, “ It has become law for any motorists to use unworthy vehicles on the road and or with expired particulars in the state, while stiff penalties will be melted out to defaulters of any traffic laws and regulations as approved by the Osun State House of Assembly”.
According to him, “all vehicle particulars like vehicle license, road worthiness with back-up hackney permit (for commercial vehicles only), insurance, prove of ownership, change of ownership, Number plate, heavy duty permit, (for trucks), driver license and commercial vehicles in any of the state colour should be up to date as the office of transportation will not tolerate any motorist without his/her valid
document”.
Engr. Ibrahim said further that, his officers in order to ensure safety on the roads will continue to collaborate with the Police and the Federal Road Safety Corps.
The Acting Executive Secretary however, reiterated readiness of the agency to sanctions any of his officers found guilty of any corrupt practices.
