A group, Osun Youths 4 Atiku, on Friday dismissed the claim by the state Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu, would get one million votes from Osun State in the next general election.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo before the inauguration of local government chapters of the group, its convener, Pelumi Olajengbesi, also said the organisation would collaborate with other stakeholders in the People Democratic Party to deliver Osun for the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.
Oyetola, while addressing participants in a walk organised by Osun APC youth wing to garner support for Tinubu’s presidential ambition on Thursday in Osogbo, had said his party’s candidate could have up to one million votes from the state during the poll.
But reacting, Olajengbesi said going by the result of the last governorship election, Oyetola did not get up to 500,000 votes.
He further said, “The governor is actually living in no man’s land. The governor could not even afford to gather 500,000 votes for himself; someone who cannot feed himself is thinking of feeding Tinubu.
“If you look at the votes that Oyetola was able to secure in the last election, these votes are not discernible politically, the people of Osun State voted for the PDP.”
He then declared readiness of the group to mobilise support for Atiku across the state, adding that the structure of the organisation had been spread across wards and local government areas of the state.
