All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters yesterday held a Solidarity Walk in support of presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.
The rally tagged: Five ‘million-man walk’ was also in support of the re-election of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. It was organized by the Chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages Management, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (Aka MC Oluomo).
The APC supporters across the metropolis defied the early downpour and converged on the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere as early as 7am.
The crowd walked from the stadium through Ikorodu Road and converged on Bolade, Oshodi.
Various groups came with their banners to show their support for Asiwaju Tinubu, Shettima and Sanwo-Olu.
Nollywood Stars, musicians and others came in different colours of insignia bearing Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu.
The traffic were diverted from some major roads, including Funsho Williams Avenue, Yaba, Ikorodu Road, Agege Motor Road and neighbouring communities.
Three popular fuji musicians – Wasiu Alabi Ajibola (Pasuma wonder); Sulaimon Adio (Atawewe) and Sulaimon Alao (Malaika) entertained the crowd.
Security personnel were on hand to ensure orderly.
Akinsanya described the gathering as a mini-show of strength by Tinubu’s supporters.
“We just want Lagosians and Nigerians to know that our father, Asiwaju Tinubu has millions of supporters. This is just a tip of an iceberg. We are not fully out yet. By the time the election dates draw nearer, Nigerians will see our true colour.
“We’ll deliver massive votes for Asiwaju Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu in Lagos,” he said.
Akinsanya said Tinubu had the character, capacity and competence to provide leadership that everyone would be proud of in the country.
