As Muslims in Osun and Nigeria prepare for the celebration of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, the Osun governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has restated that the birthday is a period of hope and rebirth for all believers.
Senator Adeleke who described the birthday as a worldwide remembrance of the rejuvenation of monotheism to Allah also called for prayers as he prepares to assume the governorship of Osun State.
The Federal Government had declared Monday, October 10, 2022, a public holiday to observe Eid-el-Maulud, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
In a message to the Muslim faithful signed by Olawale Rasheed, his spokesperson, Adeleke stated that the birthday of Prophet Muhammad also reaffirmed God’s supremacy over his creations.
“The global celebrations of Prophet Muhammed’s birthday is a signal of divine grace, favour and mercy on all humanity. The prophet’s message to the world from the Arabian Peninsula is that of enlightenment and a fervent call for surrender to Allah and doing good to all irrespective of colour, faith and nationality.
“I join Muslim faithful locally and internationally to mark this significant and sacred day when the Messenger of Allah entered this world thereby starting a new wave of revival and expansion of faith in Almighty God. As we celebrate in prayers and rededication to the teachings of our Prophet, I urge our religious leaders to intensify prayers for a peaceful transition of power next month.
“The prayers of clerics and their congregations are indispensable as we prepare for a new Osun State. As a strong believer myself, we must put the wellbeing of our state at heart even as we recommit ourselves to fair and equitable leadership in the management of state affairs.”
