All the 20 Local Government Council Chairmen, their Deputies, Councillors and Secretaries in Bauchi State have been directed to step down by the State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
A statement issued by Mr Mukhtar Gidado, the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity, on Saturday explained that the governor’s directive was follows the expiration of the tenure of the elected council officials on 10th October 2022.
The statement said the Heads of Administration of the respective councils are to take over the affairs of the affected officials on Tuesday, 11th October 2022, pending the conduct of fresh elections or the constitution of caretaker committees.
The Special Adviser explained that the directive was pursuant to Section 2 (i) of the Local Government System Establishment and Administration of Local Government Councils Law of Bauchi State 2013, as amended.
The statement stated, “His Excellency, the governor thanked the outgoing chairmen, deputy chairmen, councillors, and secretaries for the services rendered to the state and wished them success in their future endeavours.”
