Kemi Afolabi, the Nollywood actress, has commenced her treatment for lupus in the United States.
Afolabi had in March revealed that she was diagnosed with lupus, an incurable and inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues.
She also disclosed that her doctor said she has five years to live — out of which she has spent a year.
Afolabi’s revelation had prompted a lot of support and concerns from celebrities, fans, and associates.
She had in May disclosed her treatment was billed to start in June.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Afolabi said she has started her lupus treatment at a medical facility outside Nigeria.
In the post accompanied by a video of herself in the hospital, the actress said she is receiving her treatment at the John Hopkins hospital in Maryland, United States.
She further acknowledged those who made it possible, while urging people to “wish me luck”.
“I commenced my lupus treatment journey today 06/30/2022 with @hopkinsmedicine Alihamdulilah,” she wrote.
“Some beautiful souls made this happen, God bless you all. Wish me luck. #warrior.”
The actress had recently debunked the claims that she attended a well-known church to get healed from the incurable and life-threatening illness.
